Rob Edwards and O'Neil represent the early names in the frame to succeed the former manager as head coach of Wolves.

The previous coach was sacked on the weekend after the team's ten-game without a victory beginning to the Premier League campaign.

Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have historic associations to the club - are part of the names to be considered by the club leadership.

The manager is presently at another club, which would pose a potential hurdle to his hiring at Wolves' stadium.

Nevertheless the former Luton Town manager - who played more than 100 of appearances for Wolves during his playing career - is considered a leading candidate for the position.

The mid-career manager is said to have backing from the Wolves directors as they start the search of appointing a new head coach.

Gary O'Neil is also emerging as a surprise contender, although he would be a surprising choice considering he was sacked by the club in the previous winter.

The ex- West Ham United midfielder is out of work meaning the club would not need to pay any compensation.
